Problem Statement
Healthcare managers were complaining about their old platform and how unusable it is. Therefore, our goal was to build and redesign their platform to make it usable for both patients and healthcare managers.
The primary purpose of this platform is to assist healthcare managers in administering medications to their patients.
Before
After
But how did we solve the problem for both healthcare managers and patients ?
Design Process
Research
User interviews & Usability testing
We have conducted user interviews and tested with 7 healthcare managers
User Interviews:
We asked them the following questions:
- Do patients also have access to the platform ?
- How will patients be notified about schedule changes or alterations to their medications?
- How frequently do you utilise the platform on your mobile device ?
- What features do you appreciate, and which ones do you believe require improvement ?
During the session we also tested the platform on Healthcare managers.
- We gave them 3 tasks to complete.
- We aimed to track the time required for adding or removing a medication and editing patient information.
- Additionally, we inquired about the initial action they typically take upon opening the platform.
Affinity mapping
After talking and testing with healthcare managers. We've analysed their actions and divided them into four segments, which assisted us in identifying the key issues.
Ideation
Brainstorming session ( Provocation )
After finding out what we want from both ends. Creating a workshop to discuss ideas with managers and vote for the best ideas
P.S: The end-goal was to modernise the platform and let patients access the platform as visitors. Therefore, This exercise incorporated patients as well.
Rapid Sketching
I showcased some sketches I had developed to healthcare managers, and together, we deliberated on them and cast votes.
Final Wireframes and Design
We ran a workshop with a healthcare manager to come out with the user flows.
- First Flow: For Healthcare Managers
- Second flow: For New Patients
- Third flow: For Existing Patients
Final Wireframes
It was crucial to wireframe after stating the problem and gathering all the information needed for the website before implementing them and testing them.
Final Designs and testing
Before reaching the final design. As a team we have conducted several usability tests on both Patients and Healthcare managers.
The outcome of the project
- User Behaviour: One of the issues we had to tackle is that both patients and healthcare managers they're not really experienced in utilising technologies. Therefore, we had to do the simplest calendar ever made.
- The impact on both managers and patients: Both ends were happy with the results. Even though it took us 3 months to reach to the final designs. But I do believe it was worth it.
